Title
April 2020 Mailing - State Side.
Content
Good day Springfield Care-Soldier Mailing volunteers, we wish you health and saftey during these difficult times. We are fine, staying home with the occasional trip to the grocery store and some yard and house work.

Last months mailing was accomplished by your great efforts to buy items and leave them on our porch to be packed, and then the Post Office came and picked up all 25 boxes. It was really very efficient but not nearly as much fun as when we met and do our thing.

We do not know if all the military deployed are able to get our normal packages, we have not had any returns, but also no confirmations of receipt. Our mission has always been to support our deployed service members serving in harms way. With the COVID 19 situation, we have guard troops being deployed in harms way here at home. We are aware of 60+ National Guard members deployed around the state of Illinois in support of the war against this virus. We know that these folks are in “harms way” in a totally different and unexpected way.

We have been in contact with the Air National Guard and they have suggested we consider shifting our focus stateside for a brief time and send packages to the military deployed around the state. Therefore we will be diverting our attention to support this fight the best we can. Unlike the overseas mailings, the Stateside military personnel have adequate and appropriate toiletries but have requested snacks and protein type
edibles.

Please accept this change in the spirit you all have always shown, and when shopping pick up items which we will pack and have the Air National Guard pick up and distribute. Because the 183rd is based here, they will be accepting and distributing the package at no cost. That savings of the postage cost will help purchase some of the supplies, but we need you support to make sure we can meet the need.

So, our porch is the destination for whatever you are able to get out and purchase, we will get the boxes packed, and guard will pick up. While the ship date is April 21, we encourage everyone to shop now, and drop off as soon as possible.

We know the world has been turned upside down for many, and health remains our number one goal. We know you will rally to support this modified mission as we seek to do what’s right for our hero’s.
