On Tuesday December 17 the Springfield Cares Soldier Mailing Group was able to meet, sort, and assemble 65 boxes to be shipped to 16 different service persons serving in dangerous regions around the globe.

We were blessed with Christmas Stockings packed by the Ogilvy Dance school, and the Springfield Senior Center. The items in the stockings were donated by the dancers and their supporters, and school districts in the Springfield and surrounding area through the Senior Center.

We had a really good turnout from our volunteers and were treated to partake in the food prepared for Dorothy Mau’s Celebration of Life which took place immediately preceding our scheduled even.

We have enjoyed the support of the Senior Centers program, and the Ogilvy Dancers for several years now, and without their support we would not be able to share Christmas abroad with as many soldiers as we do. In a normal months mailing, we would send 20 boxes, but in December with everyone’s help we are able to send many more packages.

Oh, and the letters and cards were phenomenal as they often are. Reading through a few always brings a smile, and often a tear to the eye. It’s impossible to list everyone to thank, so just know that from the Becks we wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. God bless you all.
